Leklebi SHS receives computers

The Leklebi Senior High School (LESEC) is a typical rural school located in a remote environment in the Afadzato-South District in the Volta Region.

It lacks basic facilities for academic work, especially staff bungalows, a modern kitchen, an administration block, among others, although it has existed for the past 46 years.

The only bungalow for the headmistress, which was inaugurated recently, was put up by the parent-teacher association (PTA) of the school.

At its first speech and prize-giving day held last month, the headmistress, Madam Charity Calai, made a passionate appeal to citizens and other stakeholders to go to the aid of the school to propel it into the limelight.

It was in response to this appeal that a citizen of Leklebi resident in Russia, Professor Sergey P. Kotov-Dartey, presented 10 new flat-screen computers to the school last weekend to furnish its Information and Communications Technology (ICT) laboratory for use by the students.

He further promised to deliver gas cylinders and cookers for the refurbishment of the school kitchen which had, over the years, used firewood for the preparation of meals for the students.

Prof. Kotov-Dartey, who is the President of the Russian–Ghanaian Business Council, also said the water supply system would be overhauled with the provision of a well and water tanks to solve the water problem of the school and the community.

The Paramount Chief of the Leklebi Traditional Area, Togbega Agboka VI, commended him for giving back to society and promised that the donation would trigger a new sense of love and commitment to the development of the community among the people.

The School Prefect, Master Emmanuel Agbadza, expressed gratitude on behalf of the students to the donor for the gesture and promised that the items would be used constructively to further their studies.

According to Madam Calai, the school had received 10 computers from the Ghana Institution for Electronic Communications (GIFEC) and 50 laptops under the Better Ghana agenda.
