Is the NSMQ platform a 'show off' for schools or a benchmark for good schools? [VIDEO]

Is the national science and maths quiz platform commonly known as NSMQ a 'show off' for schools or a benchmark to determine a school is good or not?

This weekend a student from the Nsein Senior High School in the Western Region, Richlove Oduro has stirred that debate on social media.

To her, the NSMQ platform cannot be used or should not be used as a benchmark to determine good schools [Watch attached videos below].

The NSMQ is a show, my school is not meant for show, the Nsein SHS student explained.

Plans are underway to rename the Nsein Senior High School as Kwame Nkrumah Senior High School.

Located at Nsein-Axim in the Western Region of Ghana, the school was originally known as the Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah Secondary School, then as Axim Secondary School, before finally being renamed to the Nsein Secondary School and then Nsein Senior High School.

There are indications plans are underway to go back and rename the school after Dr. Kwame Nkrumah, who founded it in 1960.

A ceremony has been scheduled for September 21, 2024 for that renaming of the school.

An old student and video content creator  - Goshers, visited the school and had this chat with Richlove Oduro, a student of the school as part of preparations for the renaming and this conversation about the NSMQ being a platform for show off or not came up.

Richlove Oduro's argument about the science and maths quiz being a platform for schools to show off has generated a debate online.

Watch Richlove's argument in the first video by Goshers and her reaction to the public debate in the second video.
