GIMPA introduces GMAT programme
Ghana Institute of Management and Public Administration (GIMPA), in collaboration with the Graduate Management Admission Council (GMAC) and Unique Enterprise, has introduced a Graduate Management Admission Test (GMAT) programme.

GMAT is a standardised admission examination used by over 6,000 graduate programmes offered by about 1,500 universities or institutions in about 110 countries as part of the selection criteria for graduate admission.
It is also useful in enhancing reasoning skills and in employment testing.
Objective of GMAT
The Rector of GIMPA, Professor Franklyn Manu, told participants at the launch of the programme in Accra that the objective of the programme was to increase the level of awareness of the GMAT in Ghana and to also help improve the representation and performance of Ghanaians at the GMAT examination by locally facilitating GMAT preparatory courses.
“The programme will also provide GMAT exams registration services, admission placement support internationally and training in soft skill development,” he said.
Prof. Manu emphasised that apart from the programme opening doors to academic and career success, GMAT-type questions were used by many multinational companies in Africa and elsewhere for employment testing.
“Africans typically avoid the GMAT examination because of their mistaken impression that the test is too difficult and that they cannot do well,” he added.
According to Prof. Manu, the GMAT examination was quite different from the conventional tests to which they were accustomed, adding that GMAT examination was a test of higher reasoning skills that assessed one’s ability to think or reason with established knowledge.

The Chief Executive Officer of Unique Enterprise, Mr Prince Kofi Amoabeng, underscored the essence of young graduates pursuing higher education and upgrading their knowledge.
He, therefore, urged Ghanaians to take advantage of the programme since it would expose and equip them to apply for international job vacancies and top positions locally.
