The items included bags of rice, gallons of oil, cartons of milk, soft drinks, boxes of spaghetti, bags of water, sanitary products, washing powder, paper towels, toothbrushes, clothing and stationery such as exercise books, pencils, mathematical sets, among others.

The items were selected to address the immediate needs of both children and the orphanage as a whole. It formed part of the school’s corporate social responsibility (CSR) and demonstrated its commitment and dedication to helping the less privileged.

The Managing Director of The  BabyNest, Eben-Kay Hodo, said as a pre-school, the donation was a way of instilling into the pupils a sense of responsibility and the spirit of caring for the poor and vulnerable in society.

He explained that the donation was supported by parents, children and the school, adding that such events were normally held on Valentine’s Day, which was a period to show love and kindness but due to unforeseen circumstances, “this year’s donation was pushed back.

“Last year, we were at Korle Bu to fix their paediatric ward, but this year, we thought we should go out of Accra to bless the lives of other less privileged children in remote areas like this.

“Fortunately, one of our managers suggested this place, we all voted on it and chose here,” he explained. Mr Hodo charged the management of the orphanage to see to the efficient use of the items and ensure that they benefitted the children.

The Proprietress of the Eye of the Lord Orphanage, Mary Kawsebea, in expressing her gratitude, said a word of prayer, calling for blessing upon the school, the children and parents and asked God to replenish their efforts so that they could give more.

She promised that all the items would be well taken care of and distributed according to the needs of the children in a manner that would ensure that they lasted.
