He polled 18 out of the 26 votes cast, representing 72 per cent in the election conducted by the Effutu Municipal Electoral officials led by Mr Anthony Oppong, the Municipal Electoral officer.

Nii Ephraim was prevented from voting as his term as MCE had elapsed, and he was working in an acting capacity.

Nii Ephraim promised not to abuse the trust reposed in him.

He expressed the hope that the members would continue to co-operate with him to facilitate the speedy development of the area.

The Central Regional Minister, Mr Samuel Sarpong, who graced the occasion, called for unity among the members and the MCE to pave the way for development projects.

He also cautioned members of the National Democratic Congress who had been kicking against Metropolitan, Municipal and District Chiefs Executives nominated by the President to stop the act.

He reminded them that the nominees were not appointed to serve party members alone, but the entire society.

Very Reverend Eldad Bonney, Presiding Member of the assembly, commended the members for endorsing the MCE.

The Member of Parliament for the area, Mr Alexander Afenyo Markin, said now that the MCE had been confirmed, members should put aside their personal and political sentiments in the interest of the municipality.

He said it was only unity and hard work that would facilitate the development of the area.

Mr Charles Owusu Nsiah, Winneba District Court Magistrate, swore the MCE in after leading him to take the oaths of office, secrecy and allegiance.
