Dr. Lydia Mosi promoted to Associate Professor at the University of Ghana
The University of Ghana Council has granted approval for the promotion of Dr. Lydia Mosi to the position of Associate Professor.

This remarkable achievement makes her the third female professional to attain the rank of professor within the Department of Biochemistry, Cell, and Molecular Biology at the University of Ghana.
Dr. Mosi's promotion to Associate Professor is a testament to her outstanding research contributions in the field of Buruli ulcer, her dedicated service to the university, and the international recognition she has garnered for her research endeavors.
Dr. Mosi commenced her tenure as a lecturer at Ghana's prestigious university in 2010 and was subsequently promoted to the rank of senior lecturer in 2015. Over the course of her 12-year tenure in the department, Dr. Mosi has supervised the research work of 28 MPhil and 15 PhD students, as well as over 60 undergraduate honor students and research interns.
Having published over 40 peer-reviewed articles and contributed to 2 book chapters, Dr. Mosi has established herself as a pioneering figure in non-tuberculous mycobacterial research. Her laboratory is a member of the World Health Organization's Buruli ulcer laboratory network, further solidifying her international reputation.

Dr. Lydia Mosi holds a PhD in Microbiology from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, and a Bachelor of Science degree in Zoology and Biochemistry, obtained through a combined major at the University of Ghana, Legon.
Throughout the years, Dr. Mosi has assumed various leadership roles, including her tenure as the Head of the Biochemistry, Cell, and Molecular Biology department at the University of Ghana, Legon. Presently, she serves as the Deputy Director of Administration at the West African Centre for Cell Biology of Infectious Pathogens, University of Ghana, Legon (WACCBIP). Dr. Mosi has also delivered presentations on her research work at numerous conferences, including the inaugural WHO meeting for Neglected Tropical Skin Diseases, where she chaired the session on transmission.
Driven by her belief in a hands-on approach for young African scientists, Dr. Mosi is dedicated to building a network of accomplished individuals who can collaborate to improve their circumstances and tackle African challenges with African solutions. She is an alumnus and trained facilitator of the Africa Science Leadership Programme and Inclusive Innovation and successfully organized the inaugural West African Science Leadership Programme in Ghana, catering to exceptional early career scientists within the subregion.
