Dr Joseph Asibu wins 2016 Educational Leader award
The Chief Executive Officer of Ideal College, Dr Joseph Kobina Asibu, was adjudged the Distinguished Educational Leader for the year 2016 by MicJoy Advertising (MJA), a media consulting firm during the Africa Quality Awards Scheme in Kumasi, which appreciates the contributions of hard-working Ghanaians.

A citation accompanying the award said Dr Asibu, who was driven by the passion to see every student succeed, began a model school draped with a corporate philosophy that every student could be a genius and that required a conducive environment and guidance to achieve.
“He launched Ideal College onto the Ghanaian educational landscape to offer an alternative to mainstream education. From a humble begging in 2002 with 10 students and three teachers, Ideal College started an adventure of changing the fortune of students.
“The school began as a remedial school due to the inefficiencies in the secondary school system that led to the mass failure of students at the Senior Secondary School Certificate Examination (SSSCE)”, it said.
The citation said “Influenced by the profession of his father, who was a teacher, and a passion for teaching and concerned with the massive rate of failures recorded in the West African Senior School Certificate Examination (WASSCE), Dr Asibu took it upon himself to help students overcome their frustrations and challenges in writing the exams.”
“With an ultimate vision for the school to become a world class institution recognised by the delivery of result-oriented educational services to the satisfaction of clients, he embarked on the mission of encouraging and giving hope to students to pursue their dreams and secure their future through quality education,” it stated.
Among other things, the citation said, Dr Asibu was very passionate about social responsibility in granting assistance and scholarship to needy students in his home region and home town, Senya Bereku, in the Central Region as well as the Otumfuor Educational Foundation, orphanages and communities where the school operates.
