Dangme–Tongu Presbytery assists senior high schools

Anokye NkansahThe Dangme–Tongu Presbytery of the Presbyterian Church of Ghana (PCG) has presented two Toyota Fortuna 4 – wheel vehicles costing GH¢161,000.00 to the Krobo Girls and Manya Krobo Senior High School, both at Odumase Krobo in the Lower Manya Krobo Municipality, as duty cars for the heads of the two institutions.

Each school received their vehicle at their respective Parent–Teacher Association (PTA) meetings.

The Chairperson of the Dangme–Tongu Presbytery, Rev. Fred Nuer Appertey, handing over the keys and documents of the vehicles to the heads of the institutions said, the church was determined to pursue certain objectives to raise the standard of education in the presbytery and Ghana as a whole.

These objectives include improving access to and participation through opening and maintenance of facilities, improving management capacity and strengthening administration for managerial effectiveness, providing motivation and incentives to enhance qualitative outputs and results,improving discipline and moral character training through providing spiritual oversight and counselling services.

He expressed the presbytery’s gratitude to its development partners; the Ghana Commercial Bank (GCB), the Upper Manya Klo Rural Bank, Board of Governors and PTAs of the beneficiary schools for their  support.

He urged the heads of the beneficiary schools to service the cars  when necessary to prolong their lifespans.

Rev. Anokye Nkansah, the Director of Education of PCG and the General Manager of Presbyterian schools, on behalf of the Moderator of PCG and the General Assembly Council of PCG expressed gratitude to the Dangme–Tongu Presbytery and all collaborators for their foresight.

The Principal of Akropong College of Education, Rev. Samuel Yeboah Antwi, who gave short exhortations at both functions urged stakeholders in education to complement and support the work of  the government in providing quality education at all levels.

The P.T.A. Chairman of Krobo Girls Senior High School, Mr Jerry Koomson, on behalf of the PTA and board of governors of the school expressed their gratitude to the presbytery for its contribution towards a worthy cause.

He said the PTA had also embarked on  a three–storey dormitory project estimated to cost  GH¢700,000.00. The project when completed would also provide three bedroom accommodation for teachers and three cubicles for the house prefects, all to support quality education.

The PTA Chairman of Manya Krobo  Senior High School, Rev. Stephen Narh, lauded the presbytery for its contribution and pledged the PTA and the school’s assistance in providing the needed inputs in the interest of their own wards.

Ms Cecilia Obenewaa Appiah and Rev. Isaac Sackey Kwao, the Headmistress and Headmaster of Krobo Girls and Manya Krobo senior high schools respectively, both were overwhelmed with the new vehicles and pledged to use the vehicles for the intended purposes to maintain high academic standards in their respective schools.

Also present at the ceremonies was the Eastern Regional Manager of Presbyterian schools, Ms Ivy Owusu.
