COTVET deliberates on skills needs of industry

 According to him, about a quarter of the Ghanaian labour force is unemployed and he attributed this to the growth of the service industry, which is not employing heavily.

He also advised the administrators of training institutions to introduce courses which would make their graduates more relevant to industry.

The Acting Executive Director of COTVET, Mr Sampson Damptey Tetey, said that the workshop was the first in a series of interventions the council planned to undertake in the coming months to bridge the gap between industry and academia.

The Coordinator in charge of Information, Publicity, and Promotions at COTVET, George Ferguson Laing, said the unemployment situation in the country could be improved if training institutions and industry saw themselves as partners in national development and worked more closely together.
