Mr Adade-Yeboah urged media practitioners to hold those in power accountable by presenting facts and hard truths.

He further urged media practitioners "not to embellish information but to deal with the issues as they are in order to earn the trust of the people" in exercising their freedom of expression.

He also emphasized the importance of prioritizing functional or everyday English in communication to ensure effective understanding, adding that it is a powerful tool for development.

The theme for this year's World Press Freedom Day is "Shaping a Future of Rights: Freedom of expression as a driver for all other human rights."
