Bawumia awards NSMQ finalists with GH¢60,000
The grand finale of the National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ) 2024 was held at the New Examination Center, University of Cape Coast between Mfantsipim School, Keta Senior High School and St. Augustine’s College.
This year’s NSMQ was held at Cape Coast, which is widely taunted as the citadel of education in Ghana.

Historically, formal education in the Gold Coast started in Cape Coast, the ancient capital of Ghana, with Philip Quaque School.
At the inception of the competition, Central Region, which hosted the event for the first time kept their hopes high by chanting host and win.
The final contest had two schools from Cape Coast competing against Keta Senior High School from the Volta Region.
A healthy head to head contest between Mfantsipim School and St. Augustine’s College ended with a point difference in the scores, 47 against 46.
Mfantsipim School emerged winners of the 2024 National Science and Maths Quiz, making it their 3rd win after 2014 and first in 1999.
The Vice President, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia awarded a total of GH¢60,000 to the finalist schools of the 2024 National Science and Maths Quiz (NSMQ).

Contestants for the three schools received GH¢10,000 per school, while their teachers (trainers) received GH¢5,000 and GH¢5,000 for the schools.
The Central Regional Minister, Mrs. Justina Marigold Assan presented the cash price on behalf of Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia to the schools.
The contestants and the schools received numerous prizes and awards for their sterling performances.
