Association of Private Universities to elect executive Feb 7
The owners, founders and chancellors of private universities who agreed to form an umbrella body are set to vote for their executive on February 7, this year.
This was made known after a meeting held last Friday at the Wisconsin International University College (WIUC) to discuss the drafting of their constitution and other important matters in founding the association.

The association, now known as the Private Universities Founders Association Ghana (PUFA-Ghana) is made up of institutions such as WIUC, Kings University College, Regent University College of Science and Technology, Data Link Institute of Business and Technology and Garden City University College.
The rest were Jackson Educational Complex, Noble International Business School, MountCrest University College and Spiritan University College, Joyce Ababio Institute of Fashion and Accra College of Medicine.
Long overdue
The Chancellor of WIUC and convenor of PUFA-GHANA, Rev. Dr Paul Fynn, who briefed the media after the meeting said it was important to found the association to address issues that bothered them as private institutions.
"The forming of the association is long overdue.
We should have formed this association right after former President, John Kofi Agyekum Kufuor instituted private universities in the country, but it's not too late and we have decided to form it now," he said.
Rev. Dr Fynn said the association on February 7 would finalise its decision on its constitution and elect executives who would run its affairs.
He added that when the association was duly registered with its executives, all private universities, colleges and institutions would be free to join and deliberate on issues that concern them.
"This is a voluntary association and we're not going to demand that anyone joins.
But when it's fully registered with its executives, we will send out letters to all who wish to join so that we can all come together and make decisions that will be beneficial for all," he said.
The association had its maiden meeting on January 13 to discuss ways to fund the association that will help address its challenges.
One such matter discussed was the desire to influence positively the formulation and implementation of government policies concerning the provision of tertiary education in the country.
