ANSECO ‘99 donates to alma mater

The 1999 year group of the Anlo Senior High School (ANSECO) has pledged to undertake more projects in its alma mater to enhance teaching and learning.

The members of the group made the pledge after donating sports and first aid kits worth GH¢16,000 to the school to support the development of sports.

The items included 60 tracksuits, 25 football jerseys, 30 basketball jerseys, 20 football hoses and 10 footballs.

The rest are a set of table tennis balls, four table tennis bats, 10 volleyballs, two boxes of first aid kits and five basketballs.

Presentation

Presenting the items on behalf of the year group, its Chairman, Mr Dickson Kudzo Agbemordzi, said the sports project would not only equip the school but would also help produce well-trained and experienced sports men and women for the country in future.

“We by this project have the hope that ANSECO shall also produce an internationally recognised sports icon,” he stated.

Support

Mr Agbemordzi urged old students to be relentless in providing support for students who had interest in pursuing sports, stating that “we cannot continue to see talents produced by ANSECO go waste. I urge all old students to leave their doors open and be ready to help any product of this school whose ambition is to pursue sports, football especially,” he stressed.

He also encouraged other year groups who would celebrate their various anniversaries to always give back to the school that played a part in their development.

“We the 1999 year group celebrated our 20th anniversary last year. Even though we didn’t come around, we remained committed to giving something back to our alma mater and this is what we are all witnessing today,” he added.

Results

The Assistant Headmistress of the school, Ms Nutifafa Kwawukumey, who received the donation on behalf of management and students of the school, commended the year group for its move to boost sports in the school.

She stated: “This donation is truly godsend as we are currently preparing to host the annual Inter-Schools Competition in a few weeks”.

She mentioned that the items would be effectively used to achieve the desired results.

Also present at the short but impressive ceremony were some executive members of the Anlo Senior High School Old Students Association (ANSSOSA), namely Messrs Gayheart Kumedzro and Selorm Deyegbe, Media Relations Officer and Assistant Media Relations Officer, respectively.
