Academic City educates SHS students on job prospects

Academic City University College, a premium entrepreneurship tertiary institution, has embarked on a nationwide campaign to educate the younger generation about job prospects.

The campaign dubbed, “ACity Career Tour,” seeks to provide the necessary support and inspiration for senior high school (SHS) students throughout their life-long career journeys.

In recent times, career has become a life-long continuous process of development. The situation has called for the need to provide the younger generation with access to information all through their career path.

Initiative

The initiative will help trigger the thinking process of students about career choices.

It will also ensure the availability and accessibility of career information to the SHS students to enable them to understand the evolving dynamics of the job market in the era of information and technology.

The campaign commenced at the Akosombo International School.

Interacting with the students of Akosombo International School, the Dean of Engineering at Academic City, Dr Lucy Agyepong, indicated that Academic City’s initiative provided young students with a ‘one-stop shop’ opportunity available to them after high schools.

“I am always excited to interact with students and help those who have no clue as to their career path.

It is the goal of the campaign to work with these students to give them direction in choosing the right career path,” she said.

Awareness

The Dean of Business and Social Sciences, Dr Linda Deigh, emphasised the need for young students to be aware that they had a career path to take once their schooling was over.

According to her, the campaign was an innovative platform that offered young students the opportunity to see into the future job market to enable them to make the right career choices.

The Headmaster of Akosombo International School, Mr Julius Kog-Der, commended Academic City for the initiative to educate the younger generation about future jobs and also guide them to make the right career choices.
