Building a healthy, happy family

It is never the desire of anyone to fall sick. In fact, if you unfortunately fall prey to sickness, the feeling associated with such a state is not a pleasant one.

There are so many things we can do to prevent diseases from attacking and worrying us. For example, observing very good personal hygiene is a sure way of preventing cholera and ebola. Choosing a healthy diet and exercising regularly helps to prevent lifestyle related diseases.

Most people know how good and helpful these preventive health strategies are but moving ahead of that knowledge and putting it into practice seems a very impossible task for many.

Those who have succeeded in implementing some of these strategies will always give testimonies of how helpful such healthful life choices have been to them.

This article will assist families in their quest to help each member: father, mother and child live well so as to stay healthy all the days of their life.

Mothers

They are the managers of the home and providers of the food that everyone eats at home. They are very busy taking care of everyone else but not themselves. Often, they provide the wrong foods for every member of the family as well.

If they are able to get good information about healthy diets and put it into practice, others in the house have no choice than to just eat what they are given. Mothers need to make some time for themselves as well.

Eat early and make time for some exercise. Prepare those meals with little or no oil, cut down on fried foods. Stop using stock cubes to cook for the family as well. Give healthy meals to your children for their lunch in school. Add fresh fruits to their lunch packs as well, rather than sugary drinks.

Fathers

The men are often out of the house early and mostly return very late at night. They, therefore, leave home without food and return to eat late at night.

Their meals are mostly taken care of by their wives and/or house helps. In order to remain a healthy father till retirement, you need to change and make certain adjustments to this seemingly normal lifestyle.

Eat most of your foods from home. Start by first of all helping your wife or home caregiver to gain good knowledge on making healthy meals. Eat some food at home before you leave in the morning.

Do not be too busy to reject your wife’s lunch pack prepared at home. Carry it along to the office. Get back home early for that home-made supper as well.

The office food is very likely to help you develop one of the lifestyle/diet related diseases before you go on retirement, so beware.

Worst of all, most men think they are incomplete without drinking alcohol. Thus they drink all their life and worsen chances of living without diabetes, stroke, and hypertension, among others.

Alcohol is not an essential food, so the human body does not need the alcohol you put into it. Just learn to stay off it for a better future.

Children

Feed your children some healthy meals and when they grow up, they will not depart from them.

Giving them money to buy food is not a good idea; cooking healthy meals for them is a better idea.

Do not always provide them with ice cream; do that once a while, not always.  Let them engage in some outdoor play activities rather than in-door activities all the time.
