Rockson-Nelson Etse Kwami Dafeamekpor is the Member of Parliament for South Dayi in the Volta Region and currently serves as the Majority Chief Whip in the 9th Parliament, a strong voice and political position for the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC).

Unknown to many, Mr Dafaemekpor has been married to Ebi Bright, the current Metropolitan Chief Executive of Tema, for many years, and they are blessed with children.

Ebi Bright is a politician too, a development communicator, and a former actress who currently serves as the Metropolitan Chief Executive of Tema.

In May 2025, she was appointed as the Metropolitan Chief Executive of Tema, making her the first woman to serve in that position in the port city of Ghana. 

Ebi Bright was known in Ghana's film industry and as a social activist before she joined politics.

During Election 2024, Mr Rockson-Nelson Dafaemekpor was seen running between his constituency in South Dayi in the Volta Region and Tema Central constituency in the Greater Accra Region to campaign.

But many were not aware that he was helping his wife in her bid to be elected as a Member of Parliament after she had tried previously and lost it.


She was unsuccessful in 2024 also but was appointed as the Metropolitan Chief Executive after the National Democratic Congress (NDC) won both the presidential election and the majority of seats in Parliament.

During the re-collation of the controversial Tema Central parliamentary election results at the premises of the Tema Regional Police Command headquarters in 2024, Mr Dafaemekpor was closely seen by the side of his wife throughout the process, Graphic Online observed.

But many did not know that Ebi Bright was strongly being helped by the husband to get the seat.

Had the polls gone in her favour, it would have been a husband and wife affair on the same side of the Chamber of Parliament.

On her birthday today, May 19, Mr Dafaemekpor went public on X with the following message, which has ignited a public debate online, especially for many who were not aware they were a couple.

"A very Special Happy Birthday wishes to this brilliant woman, a sweet wife and a wonderful mother. From the entire family, we wish you good health & the fortitude of mind to continue to transform your beloved Tema, as Mayor. Tons of Love & a mighty hug from me & the kids. Spiritus Invictus!!!!"

This is the message that has ignited the discussion with some expressing surprise.
