Rhythms was back on Da Runway

For a show that has been off for four years, last Saturday’s Rhythms on Da Runway held at the Banquet Hall of the State House lived up to its billing.

Held as part of Ghana’s 60th anniversary celebrations, the well-attended event saw fashion and music at its best much to the delight of patrons.

The ball was set rolling with a performance by Faith from Zimbabwe. Though she did just two songs, she gave a good account of herself by thrilling the audience with her amazing voice.

Sarkodie had a great night

Once she was done, the runway was opened with Ama Serwaa’s Bon Collections which showed a wide variety of outfits. Among her models was Adom FM’s Akumaa Mama Zimbi who received a loud applause from the audience.

Another Ghanaian fashion designer, Abrantee The Gentleman took his turn to showcase his designs to the admiration of the audience. Celebrity models Harold Amenya, Lexis Bill and James Gardiner were all on hand to model for Abrantee.

Wife of Kofi Okyere Darko (KOD), organiser of the event, Ophelia Crossland was next to showcase her designs and they were breathtaking. She also had a wide variety of outfits for all occasions as well as children’s wear. It was exciting to watch children models strut their stuff on the runway.

From South Africa came Pulse Collections and their set of designs were equally impressive.

It was not only about clothes on the fashion front as Velma’s Collections was on hand to showcase some accessories. From fascinators to clutch bags, the beautiful models were on hand to showcase them.

Perhaps all the other celebrity models had been reserved for KOD’s Nineteen57 because when he took his turn, they came one after the other amidst screams from the audience. Coded of 4X4, Kwaw Kese, Benny Blanco and PY Addo all came on stage to showcase Nineteen57.

Since it was a night of fashion and music, the musicians were not left out as they thrilled the charged audience with spectacular performances. Manifest, Wutah Kobby, Akwaboah, Sarkodie and Bisa Kdei were all on hand to ensure that the night was complete.

MCs for the night, Nathaniel Attoh and DStv’s Vimbai from Zimbabwe did well to steer affairs to a successful end.
