Naa Maneh Foundation supports Amenam Basic School

The Naa Maneh Foundation, a non-governmental organisation (NGO), has presented classroom furniture and educational materials to the Amenam D/A Basic School located at Amenam, a farming community in the New Abirem District of the Eastern Region.

The items included exercise books, pencils and erasers.

Speaking after the donation, the Managing Director of the foundation, Miss Lilian Naa Norley Mensah, said the gesture was part of the foundation’s effort in contributing to the Sustainable Development Goals (SDG 4) on ensuring quality education and also improving the teaching and learning environment.

“This is what we determined to do for pupils in he school to help improve effective learning outcomes,” she said.

Receiving the donation, the headmaster of the school, Mr Gideon Leckey Kpodovia, assured the organisation that the pupils and teachers would make good use of the items and keep them well for other students’ benefit in the future.

He said the Kindergarten one class has been without furniture and other basic educational essentials.

Mr Kpodovia said the pupils sat on mats and boards in class, thereby making teaching and learning difficult.

He noted that teachers often had to invent creative ways to help the pupils understand what they teach in class adding, “the conditions have caused pupils to lose interest in school.

Mr Kpodovia said in view of that, the rate of absenteeism among the pupils was very high and appealed to individuals and other organisations to come to the rescue of the school.
