Work hard to honour yourselves

The Headmaster of the Kaneshie Presbyterian School, Mr Jordan Kotey Affutu, has urged students to work hard to distinguish themselves in all they do.

According to him, when students work hard, they would be able to excel in most of the things they engage in.

Mr Affutu was speaking at the graduation ceremony for Junior High School Three students who recently wrote the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) and Kindergarten pupils moving on to Primary Class One.

He encouraged students not to look back but to keep on pushing forward no matter the challenges they faced.

Twenty-four JHS Three students graduated while 46 pupils from the kindergarten section also graduated to Class One.

A Senior Resident Doctor of the Department of Gynaecology, Dr Benjamin Ansah Dortey, said technology had now become part of everybody’s life and that could affect children negatively or positively.

He added that the use of mobile phones and other devices had made children adventurous in the pursuit of knowledge and stressed that “in their search for knowledge, children read or hear about armed robbery, ‘sakawa’, among other vices, and some of them may adopt such unacceptable behaviour.”

He, therefore, encouraged parents to secure their children’s future by bringing them up in morally upright ways.
