Former Black Stars Captain and icon of the 2016 Milo Champions League (MCL), Stephen Appiah, has begun a soccer clinic for about 400 schoolchildren across the country.
As part of the event, he will be travelling to selected regional capitals across the country for the clinic ahead of each zonal competition.
The soccer clinic, aside from teaching the young talents the basic rudiments of football artistry at the grassroots level, is also designed to equip the youngsters with five important values such as focus, teamwork, determination, perseverance and discipline.
The coaches and other physical education instructors who will accompany the children are also to be taken through a coaching clinic on the basics of coaching and kid development.
The coaching clinic is spearheaded by Coach Oti Akenteng, the Technical Director of the Ghana Football Association, Didi Dramani, the National U-20 coach, Baba Nuru Malam, the Technical Director of the Tamale Utrecht Football Academy and a host of other technical brains.
The former Juventus star announced during the launch of the 2016 MCL that he would be conducting a soccer clinic as part of his iconic work for this year.
Meanwhile, the Offinso Amoawi Methodist Primary in the Ashanti Region and Fountain Gate Primary School from the Brong Ahafo Region have booked their places to represent their respective regions in the finals of the MCL to be played from June 23 to 25, 2016 at the Paa Joe Park in Kumasi.
They would be joined by the Sakasaka Primary School from Tamale in the Northern Region and the Samatigu Primary School from the Upper West Region. In Zone One, Sakasaka Primary School defeated the Samatigu Primary 2-0 to win that contest.
