Show interest in children’s education — Parents advised

The Proprietress of the Citadel International Academy, Mrs Rosemary Addo Boatin has called on parents to show interest in their children’s education and visit their schools regularly to interact with teachers to be able to get first hand information on their performance.

She said it was important to get the involvement of parents in their children’s education that was why schools often request parents to sign the homework of pupils.

She, however, explained that signing children’s homework was not the only way to monitor their performance and well-being at school but interacting with teachers was also very important.

Mrs Addo Boatin who was speaking at the 10th anniversary and graduation ceremony of pre-school children of the school, urged all parents to make their children’s performance at school their priority apart from paying their school fees.

She stated that when the children saw their parents in their school to enquire about their performance it made them feel their parents cared about them and that encouraged them to study hard.

The graduands were presented with certificates while the pupils and students who excelled in the various subjects were awarded prizes.

Hardworking teachers and parents who contributed to the school’s development were presented with gifts such as microwaves, flat screen television sets, fabrics and air conditioners.

The theme for the anniversary was: “Parenting in Education”.

The schoolchildren entertained the invited guests with some choreography, poetry recitals, drama and cultural performances.
