Ofankor JHS are Nunu Champions

Ofankor M/A JHS were last Sunday crowned winners of this year’s National Nunu Champion of Champions held at the El-Wak Sports Stadium.

It was all joy as the captain of the school team, led two other students, accompanied by their teachers mounted the podium to receive the cup and products from sponsors.

Aside picking the ultimate prize,  Ofankor M/A JHS striker Master Frank Amankwah emerged the top scorer of the competition with three goals.

The KNUST JHS were edged out again this year in their failed bid to snatch the cup.

But they picked the Overall second price, while Master David Frimpong  also of the KNUST JHS was adjudged the Overall Best Player of the tournament. Brekum Senasi JHS in the Brong Ahafo Region placed third.

They all received trophies and products from the sponsors.

  Eric Danso a 14- year- old student  of Pentecost JHS, Koforidua emerged the Youngest Player,  Collins Manu of Tendama JHS of the Upper West Region took the the Best Goallkeeper award. while the Discovery of the tournament went to Mast Kelvin Takyi Opoku of Madonna School, Koforidua.

In the girls’ category, the KNUST JHS placed emerged tops  and was followed by the Pentecost JHS, while Madonna JHS took the third place.

  Christiana Pokua Amoabeng received the Goal Queen Award, having scored three goals while her teammate,  Dora Fabiri also of KNUST JHS took home Female Discovery of the tournament.

   Abena Opoku,  Nancy Danso and  Pokuaa Amoah all  of the Pentecost JHS picked the Best Player, Best Goallkeeper and Youngest Player awards respectively.

The event, which was sponsored by PZ Cussons, producers of Nunu Milk  was co-sponsored by  Milko, Erke Sports, the Ghana Education Service, Kuukuul Mineral Water, Hollywood Financial Service and Olam Ghana.

 Chief Executive Officer of Djan Wilteh and Associate, Mr Emmanuel Olabode Williams, organisers of the competition thanked all the participating schools for their sportsmanship adding that all the 24 schools would receive a certificate of participating.

He announced that this year’s  Indomie Presidential Tournament, which normally followed the Champion of Champions would take place on tomorrow March 2, at the Kaneshie Sports Complex.
