Mount Zion Methodist School Choir wins singing contest

The Mount Zion Methodist School Choir has been crowned the Overall Winner of this year’s inter-school singing contest.

The competition, which was dubbed: Voice Battle Competition, was organised by Youth Link to create a platform for children at the basic school level to showcase their God-given talents in singing and dancing as they remembered and celebrated past and present composers of patriotic songs.

The Mount Zion Methodist School Choir recorded 81.3 points as against 76 by the Akropong School for the Blind, while the Valley View University Basic School had 74.7 points.

For their prizes, the Mount Zion School received three boxes of Indomie, exercise books and souvenirs from Cowbell Company Limited.

The singing groups of the Akropong School for the Blind and the Valley View University Basic School also took home three boxes of Indomie, exercise books and souvenirs from Cowbell Company Limited.

All the participants were presented with certificates of participation, a box of Miksi choco, exercise books and Muscatella.

‘’Patriotism the key to national development’’ was the theme for the programme which had competitors being judged by diction, voice, timing, pronunciation and movement.  

A Musicologist and Composer, Prof J. H. Nketiah, expressed his gratitude to the Youth Link team for giving these young ones the opportunity to display their talents.

He said, “listening to these young ones perform rythmic folk music is pleasing to the heart’’.
