He advised teachers to exhibit unconditional virtues so that children can learn from them so that they can also grow up to be responsible adults.

Mr Yevu made the call when he addressed schoolchildren of the Seventh Day Adventist basic schools at Somey Down in Ho during the Education Week celebration which was on the theme; “Train up the child”.

He said the theme for the celebration was appropriate because it would help check the increasing incidence of indiscipline and

lawlessness among the youth.

Mr Yevu noted that if children grew into mature and productive citizens, teachers would not be blamed for poor delivery.

He asked teachers to be more committed in the discharge of their professional duties to enable children to develop their talents.

The Executive Secretary of the Volta South Ghana Mission of the SDA Church, Pastor Samuel Yao Agboado called on teachers not to relent in their efforts to nurture children to become responsible citizens inspite of certain demoralising obstacles they might face.

The Pastor in charge of the Somey Down branch of the church, Pastor Pierre Mozambimana said the world was entangled with traits of wickedness, stubbornness and indiscipline which were a cause of concern by public spirited people.

He attributed waywardness to the lack of good training from parents and advised children to be humble and obedient to enable them to climb up the social ladder.

In an address, the Headmistress of the SDA Primary School, Mrs Smile Daves said the philosophy of education demanded that emphasis should be placed on children to ensure holistic development of their lives.

Some of the activities slated for the week included a route march through some principal streets of Ho, a quiz competition, clean up exercise and a thanksgiving service.
