The much awaited Junior Graphic Fun Fair will be held on Saturday, December 19, at the Lizzy’s Sports Complex in Accra, the Editor of the Junior Graphic, Mrs Mavis Kitcher, has announced.
Highlights of the fun fair, she added, would be the final of the National Junior Graphic Fan Club Spelling Completion which would be highly competitive and interesting.
She, therefore, encouraged children to go to the Lizzy’s Sports Complex in their numbers on the day as there would be lots of fun games and activities to last the entire day.
Shedding light on the spelling competition, the Editor said so far five fan clubs have qualified to participate in the semi final contest, which would be held on Friday, December 18, 2015, in Accra.
“The fan clubs which have qualified are; Falsyd Foundation Junior Graphic Fan Club, Accra; Family Life Int. Junior Graphic Fan Club and the University Primary Junior Graphic Fan Club, Cape Coast.
The rest are Volta Barracks Junior Graphic Fan Club, Ho, and Palmer Int. Junior Graphic Fan Club, Kumasi,” she added.
Mrs Kitcher said the contestants of the fan clubs who had qualified for the semi final in the other regions would take an all-expense paid trip with a teacher who would be their chaperon to Accra to take part in the contest.
“Six fan clubs would eventually participate in the semi final contest and spellers who take the first three positions would be selected to join last year’s national champions, Kabore Basic School in Ho, who have already won the competition twice,” she said.
The editor encouraged fan clubs which did not make it to the semi final stage of the competition to work hard and come back stronger next year.
She also expressed gratitude to all sponsors and the authorities of schools which were gracious enough to host other fan clubs in their schools during the preliminary stages of the competition.
She hoped that next year other schools would accord their sister clubs the same hospitality.
