The Deputy Director in charge of private schools for the Ga East Municipal Assembly at Abokobi, Mrs Comfort N. Kotin, has advised adults to train children to uphold good moral habits.
She further said children need to be taught self-control, good use of time, and how to use personal initiatives to do things that would benefit them.
Mrs Kotin was speaking at the seventh graduation and Speech and Prize-giving Day of Dieu Vivant Montessori School at Dome Pillar Two in Accra.
Mrs Kotin pointed out that children’s character formation depended on the education they got and the people around them.
She said children should be brought up to learn and appreciate the use of words such as please, thank you and sorry so that they would not find it difficult to say and express those emotions when the need arose.
She also appealed to stakeholders in education to help shape the moral character of children.
The Headmaster of the school, Mr Ernest Adu-Sarpong, congratulated all the graduating pupils and advised them to continue studying hard.
He encouraged the pupils to strive to be of good behaviour because the school would recognise any child who made a difference.
