The theme for the occasion was: “The key role of formal education in today’s world”.

The Ga East Municipal Director of the Ghana Education Service, Mrs Bernice Ofori, who was the guest speaker, said formal education served as the stepping stone which every individual had to build on.

She noted that although one could acquire wealth and attain a high status in the society without having any formal education, the person was bound to have serious challenges and limitations.

“It is easier for people who are enlightened to take advantage of illiterates. They can be coerced to sign false documents or be deprived of their rights,” she said.

Mrs Ofori called on all to acquire formal education to help them attain all the promising things in life.

She advised parents to send their wards to school at an early age when their brains were very sharp, to enable them to learn faster.

Mrs Ofori told teachers to allow children to ask questions and correct them when they made mistakes so they could learn from them.

The Chairman for the occasion, who is the MP for Ayensuano, Mr Samuel Ayeh-Paye, also advised parents to pay attention to their children’s education and provide them with all their needs so they could have the peace of mind to study.

He noted that formal education was very important and, therefore, urged all who wanted to go into apprenticeship to acquire it.

The students entertained the audience with a cultural display, drama, choreography, ‘awensem’ and poetry recitals.
Certificates were presented to the graduating class and awards were given to deserving students and teachers.
