Happy to go back to school— JHS finalists
In his 10th address to the nation on restrictions to prevent the spread of Covid-19, President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo directed that classes should resume for final-year students in the country.
By this directive, Junior High School (JHS) 3 students will go back to the classroom on Monday, June 29, 2020. Read what some JHS final-year students think about the directive.

At first, I thought we would write the Basic Education Certificate Examination (BECE) next year so you can imagine my joy when I heard that the President, Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, had announced that schools should resume.
I am also happy that the outbreak of the virus did not delay our education because it would have been very disappointing if we had been made to go back to the classrooms next year.
I want to complete SHS by the age of 17 so I think now I would be able to realise my dream.
I will urge all final-year students to observe all safety protocols to stay safe to ensure that we write our BECE this year.
We should not be the reason for an increase in the recorded cases.

I can’t express how happy I am. We have stayed in the house for far too long.
Although we were having lessons at home, you can’t compare it to studying in a school environment with teachers and mates.
We are grateful to the President for letting our dreams come true because I am sure it was the dream of every candidate to write the BECE this year and not next year as the increase in the recorded cases of the Covid-19 made us think.
I will protect myself by observing all the safety measures. I will also encourage my mates to do the same because some people still think we are exaggerating about how deadly the disease is.

This is the good news we were waiting for when schools were closed so I am elated.
We just have to follow all safety measures to prevent recording more cases because if that happens, then we might be asked to go back home again.
That would be sad and it would further delay the BECE so I would urge all candidates to always wear their nose masks to school and not hug anybody in excitement when they see their mates again.
We should also wash our hands with soap under running water. Let’s write the BECE Covid-19 free.

I believe that if we all observe the safety protocols, we would be fine and study peacefully to write the BECE without any problems.
As a former Compound Prefect, I would ensure that my mates and the school put in place all the things we need to keep us safe.
I would also do a little education so that all those who think the disease is a hoax will understand that it is real and they have to protect themselves and their families, as well as all candidates in the school.
I appeal to all schools to protect candidates by utilising the other classrooms for studies to observe physical distancing since the other students are not in school.
