Solid Rock Foundation School wins Inter-school Singing Contest

The Solid Rock Foundation School was adjudged the overall winner of this year’s Inter-school Singing Contest held at Burma Camp in Accra.

The school was awarded a trophy and a certificate of participation.

Our Lady of Holy Cross School took the second position while the Ghana Atomic Energy Commission School placed third.

All participants were awarded a medal, a certificate of participation and a box of Indomie noodles each.

The competition, which was dubbed: Voice Battle Competition, and organised by Youth Link Ghana was to create a platform for children at the basic school level to showcase their talents in singing.

The contestants were judged by their diction, voice, timing, pronunciation and their outfit. Other schools which participated in the contest were the British International School, Accra, the Akropong School for the Blind, Eastern Region, the Marieson Christian Academy, Accra, the Living Star School, Accra, and the Valley View University Basic School, Oyibi.

The Event Coordinator of Youth Link Ghana, Mr Kakra Opoku-Agyakwa, in an interview with the Junior Graphic, said the objective of the competition was to give schoolchildren the opportunity to unearth their talents and nurture them.

“There are many young people who have great talents but do not have the right platform to display them and The Voice Battle is one of such platforms,” he said.

He commended the participants for their great performances and urged them to continue to build on their confidence.

The Board Chairman of the National Theatre of Ghana, Nana Fredua Agyeman Ofori-Atta, encouraged the schoolchildren to make good use of their talents and use them to positively affect their communities and contribute to the development of the country.

Mr Ofori-Atta also expressed gratitude to the Youth Link team for giving the youngsters the opportunity to display their talents.
