She also expressed concern over the present state of the school’s assembly hall and the serious leakage at the Visual Arts Department anytime it rains.

Ms Asimeng-Kore, who was speaking at the 33rd Speech and Prize-giving Day of the school also said the school’s library needed to be refurbished and called on philanthropists and government agencies to come to the aid of the students.

The theme for the celebration was: “Discipline and hard work -A prerequisite for quality education and academic work.”

Ms Asimeng-Kore commended the 1997 Year Group for sponsoring the event, as well as donating book prizes for presentation to all award winners.

Mr Kwesi Appiah-Korang, a lawyer and former student of the school, encouraged the students to make discipline and hard work their hallmarks because “without that there is no way you can progress to the universities and other tertiary institutions.”

The Municipal Chief Executive for Tema, Mr Isaac Ashai Odamtten, pledged the assembly's commitment to ensure that it provided the needed infrastructural support to the school.

The Member of Parliament for Tema East, Mr Daniel Titus Nii Kwartei Glover, promised to donate ceiling fans for the classrooms to make students comfortable during classes.

The Greater Accra Regional Director of Education, Mrs Felicia Boakye-Yiadom, advised students to accord school authorities the needed respect and recognition to enable them to live in a congenial environment to pursue their ambitions.
