Their role is to encourage their peers to wash their hands regularly and occasionally meet with other ambassadors to assess their campaigns. The ambassadors were unveiled at this year’s Global Hand-washing Day organised by the company at the St. Theresa’s School, North Kaneshie, Accra.

This year’s celebration was on the theme, ‘’Raise a Hand for Hygiene.’’ In an acceptance speech, Miss Antwi-Boasiako, on behalf of her mates, assured the general student body that they were going to be great ambassadors who would ensure that the hand-washing campaign was carried out successfully.

The Brand Development and Activation Manager, Carex Ghana, Ms Ewuraba Yawson, explained that this year’s theme was a call to ensure that “our hands are lifted above germs and dirt in our environment”.

The Head of Brand Development and Activation, PZ Cussons Ghana Limited, Ms Hafsa Rimantha-Arthur, said hand-washing was one of the key tools to prevent certain communicable diseases such as cholera, diarrhoea and respiratory infections.

According to her, the handwashing initiative was aimed at educating the young ones on the diseases likely to be contracted from poor hand-washing practices.
