The school, represented by Miss Akua Ofori-Amanfo and Miss Millicent Yaa Doe, took the first and second positions out of the 80 students that participated.

At the end of the contest, Miss Ofori-Amanfo was adjudged the overall winner in the Listening Calculation Category and in the eight minutes-150 questions Elementary A-level Category.

She was followed by Miss Millicent Yaa Doe.

Miss Silikpem Akpene Avle from the same school took the second position in answering 150 questions in eight minutes in the Basic Level Category.

The Headmistress of the Blessed Home School and Crèche, Mrs Jemima Tandoh, said the school had consistently trained its students to be confident when it came to competing in any endeavour.

“As a result, it was quite clear that throughout the competition, students knew they had the requisite skills to excel and were, therefore, more relaxed and resolute,“ she said.

“To our promising students, we say congratulations for the laurels you have won and the honour brought to us. It is our hope that this unparalleled achievement will ignite a new sense of commitment in all students, to strive for higher recognition in every domain of influence,” she added.

The school encouraged parents to enrol their wards in the school as well as the crèche, in order to benefit from the UCMAS which helps to develop children’s concentration, creative thinking, memory power, logical reasoning abilities and to boost their confidence to face challenges in future.

The Universal Concept of Mental Arithmetic System (UCMAS) organises inter-schools and national competitions annually for children. The pupils compete among themselves across the nation at two levels.

The first being answering 150 questions in eight minutes and the second, a listening calculation in which questions are mentioned at a fast pace for children to calculate and answer within one minute at the various levels; basic, elementary, intermediate and grand.
