Beneficiary schools of the education programme were the Boundary Road School,  Mamprobi Sempe Basic School, Accra Sempe Basic School, Kwashieman ‘2’ Primary, Odorkor ‘1’ JHS, Bishop Mix Basic School, Bishop Girls’ Basic School, All Saints Anglican School, SDA High Street School, Kwashieman Basic and the Mamprobi Salvation Army School.

The programme which had the theme: “My Road Safety, My life”, sought to shape the attitude and behaviour of children to make them conscious of their safety anytime they used the road.

Members of the road safety clubs were given safety tool kits made up of branded school bags, learning materials and games to educate them while they played.

According to statistics made available by the NRSC, each year 12,000 road accidents occur    out of which 2,000 people died including about 300 children.

The Managing Director of Vivo Energy Ghana, Mr Fred Osoro, said children between the ages of four and nine were mostly involved in fatal road accidents while crossing the road on their way to or from school.

He, therefore, pledged that, Vivo Energy Ghana would be committed to road safety and provide the necessary funding and logistics to reduce the number of accidents on the roads.
