Pope Francis appoints new Apostolic Nuncio of Ghana

Pope Francis has appointed Monsignor (Msgr) Henryk Mieczysław Jagodziński to the position of Apostolic Nuncio of Ghana.

Msgr Henryk Mieczysław Jagodziński, currently working as a nunciature councillor, will take up his position soon. In addition, he is being elevated to the rank of Archbishop, and is being conferred the Titular See of Limosano.

Msgr Jagodziński was born in Małogoszcz, Poland on January 1, 1969.

An Apostolic Nuncio is an ecclesiastical diplomat, serving as an envoy or a permanent diplomatic representative of the Holy See to a state or to an international organization.

He was ordained to the priesthood on June 3, 1995, and incardinated in the Diocese of Kielce.

After obtaining a degree in Canon Law he entered the diplomatic service of the Holy See on July 1, 2001.

He has served various Pontifical Representatives, including those in Belarus, Croatia, India, and Bosnia and Herzegovina. In addition, he has also worked in the Third Section of the Vatican's Secretariat of State, the Section for Relations with States.

He speaks Polish, Italian, Frence, English, Croatian, Russian and Spanish.
