Two people died on Saturday, and two others sustained injuries following an accident on the Accra-Kumasi highway at Asuboi on Saturday, July 18, 2026.

The police has arrested five suspects believed to be members of a criminal group involved in armed robbery and landguard activities.

The arrest followed an intelligence-led operation at Sapeiman Faase in the Greater Accra Region. The operation led to the retrieval of firearms, ammunition and other offensive weapons.

A group said to be representing some national service personnel has questioned the decision to deduct GH¢60 from their monthly allowances for a capacity-building programme being organised by the National Service Personnel Assocation (NASPA) without consulting them.

According to the group, the deduction, which was happening at source even before their allowances were credited to their accounts, was unjustified and was therefore demanding transparency and accountability.
