The need for suitable event venues across the country has once again become a subject of interest for entertainment lovers and event organisers as Christmas approaches.

The race is on now for event organisers to secure appropriate venues as they prepare the minds of patrons for the annual ritual of organising shows.

Despite the profits that event organisers seek to rake in as the bumper harvest period approaches, it is necessary once again to bring attention to the need for more spacious and appropriate venues in this country to halt the needless pressure on  existing places like the Accra International Conference Centre and the National Theatre.

It is not surprising that the defunct Dome became the destination of choice for many event organisers due to its spaciousness. Though the venue was not purpose-built to host concerts, notable acts like Rick Ross, Bow Wow, Keri Hilson, Mario, T. Pain and others were welcomed in there to perform.

Though major entertainment events have the potential to bring in huge profits, it is surprising that both government and the private sector have still not thought it wise enough to invest in a spacious performance hall.

Showbiz would like to appeal to private and corporate institutions to consider investing in event centres across the country since past governments, despite many promises, failed to do so.

This is an area in dire need of investors and serious-minded business people should pay attention to that area because it has been overlooked for far too long.

As we prepare  for the gala of activities this December, we wish to drum into the ears of private investors to seriously think about  putting some money  into infrastructure for entertainment because it has been proved many times over that it is a gold mine waiting to be exploited.
