Limann tried stabilising economy after chaotic revolution : Addae-Mensah

Hilla Limann initially stood as the parliamentary candidate of the People’s National Party (PNP), a reincarnation of CPP, for the Tumu Constituency, and was bound to be a legislator.

Later, when Imoru Egala, Presidential Candidate of the PNP was disqualified by a High Court and banned from holding public office due to adverse findings of a Commission of Inquiry against him after the 1966 coup, Dr Limann was invited to step in as the PNP presidential candidate. He had been nominated by Egala himself.

Significantly, Dr Limann won the elections, having been marketed nationwide by the PNP over a period of only two months, since the circumstances leading to his nomination peaked at the 11th hour.
