Residents of Weija in the Weija- Gbawe Municipality have raised concerns over the deplorable state of the road from Weija Junction to Upper Weija, saying it was causing persistent traffic and hardship for commuters.
The situation has worsened in recent weeks following heavy rainfalls, which have created deep potholes and left parts of the road flooded.
Residents say the poor condition of the road has resulted in several hours of early morning traffic, making it difficult for people to get to work and school on time.
Commercial drivers and passengers who use the route daily say the problem is compounded by poor drainage.
According to them, the gutters along the stretch are too small to contain rainwater, causing it to flow across the road and making driving even more dangerous.
Mr Ntim, a commercial bus driver, described the situation as frustrating.
"We spend almost an hour on the road, especially when it rains heavily. The potholes are deep, and many vehicles break down. Passengers are always complaining," he said.
The bad road is also affecting students and workers. Esther, a university student, said she nearly missed her mid-semester examination because of the traffic.
"I nearly missed my mid-semester exams due to the potholes, which are causing heavy traffic on the road.
We are pleading with our MP to do something about it," she said.
Some residents also expressed disappointment that they have not heard from their Member of Parliament to fix the road.
For now, residents say they continue to struggle with daily traffic and flooding.
They are calling on the Ministry of Roads and Highways and the assemblies to intervene urgently to rehabilitate the road before it deteriorates further.
