You can lampoon and lambast Pastor Mensah Otabil.
You can criticise and insult him for speaking against the endemic corruption that has enveloped this country. But remember that he has neither stolen government money nor misappropriated public funds.
Otabil merely sought to use apply his knowledge and oratorical skill in making this country a better place for all of us, as did others who spoke at the Occupy-Ghana-Imani ‘anti-corruption’ event on Wednesday.
Our minds are so twisted in this country that we enthusiastically exalt, worship and praise the political thieves and criminals who endanger our future, but rabidly condemn and persecute the honourable men and women who try to affect positive change in the country.
We forget that political parties will come and go, but our country will remain forever.
Ghanaians must be concerned about the brazen corruption and sheer stealing of our national resources.
We must be concerned about the monumental ineptitude that has characterised governance in this country.
We must be concerned about the cold-bloodedness of politicians whose actions and inactions threaten the lives of the poor and vulnerable in society.
If you are senseless enough not to be interested in your own welfare, you should, at least, be sensible enough to consider that the future of your children is inescapably imperilled by today's massive corruption.
We must therefore resolve to rigorously and relentlessly resist the concerted and sustained effort of politicians to satanically dissipate our national resources in order to enrich themselves and their families at the expense of the larger population. We either do this or perish.
By our combined effort and with hard work, commitment and determination, we will rid our country of corruption and transform her into one of the greatest nations in the world.
