Why you must pick Made-in-Ghana
The Managing Director of Ghana Made Stores, Mrs Comfort Aniagyei, has called on Ghanaians to work together to develop the local economy to ensure that what happens in the global economy does not significantly affect local fortunes.

She said the country needs strong economic growth, progress and prosperity as a nation and also address unemployment as an urgent call.
“We need economic growth, we need to urgently address the unemployment issues facing us, we need control over our national affairs; we need to lessen our vulnerability to external development over which we have little or no control,” Mrs Aniagyei said.
She made this known at the inauguration of a new GhanaMade store at Winneba over the weekend.
Mrs Aniagyei said consuming Made-in-Ghana products impacted directly on the manufacturing sector of the economy, a major drive for economic growth and prosperity.
“The more products are churned out of the manufacturing sector, the higher the chances that positive outcomes such as more employment are created and achieved,” she added.
A case for Made-in-Ghana products
The MD of GhanaMade Stores made a strong case for locally made products, saying “the reasons assigned to the low patronage of Made-in-Ghana products are now archaic. Issues of quality, packaging, certification, prices and others have all been addressed to a large extent and continue to receive the needed attention,” she noted.
Buying Made-in-Ghana products help to generate more revenue internally for the government which is more sustainable, more dependable and less dependent on externally imposed conditionalities.
It also helps with the growth of small and medium scale enterprises into large operations and spurs the agricultural sector to supply more raw materials for industries.
She said the aim of GhanaMade Stores was to be a dependable source of quality Made-in-Ghana products.
The President of the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI), who was represented by Mr Seth Koranteng, said the AGI had keenly followed the exploits of GhanaMade Stores over the years; which had actively sought to provide a market for locally made products and it was as a direct result of this that the AGI awarded GhanaMade Stores a Certificate of Recognition during the 2013 AGI Awards Night.
Mr Koranteng said he was excited that GhanaMade Stores had not rested, but rather increased the tempo by adding the Central Region to the existing two regions that it already operated in.
“We ask Ghanaians to heed the call of the President of Ghana to patronise Made-in-Ghana products,” he added.
