Women singers to celebrate their heroines

The 9.00 p.m. event is dubbed  ‘Great Women of Jazz- A Celebration of the Lives of Ella Fitzgerald, Sarah Vaughan, Billie Holiday and Nina Simone.’

Four amazing female vocalists will take to the stage in honour of  those they obviously regard as heroines in the field of jazz. The singers for the night are Ofie Kodjoe, Brenda Joyce, Cae and Sandra Huson.

“Ofie is the best known of the four here but the other three are also wonderful singers in their own right,” says Nana Nyarko Ackah-Yensu, a member of the +233 management team.

“It would be a night to  float on the magnificent contributions women have made to the growth of jazz and I urge all serious lovers of the style to be there.”

Tomorrow, March 9 will be time for the Ramblers International Band to wind back the musical clock with highlife hits from the past.

They start their retrospective journey into highlife from 6.00 p.m. and they will play the band’s own compositions as well as gems from the likes of ET Mensah and the Tempos Band and King Bruce’s Black Beats.
