Vlisco contest winner dreams big
This year’s Vlisco Fashion Dream Fund Award winner, Naphu, has set her eyes on filling all the big fashion shops in the world with Africa-inspired fabrics and clothing designs

This seem to be an overly ambitious goal for a young designer who is yet to launch her label but Naphu believes “with the right mix of designs and aggressive marketing” she can only be restricted by how far she dreams.
Naphu, real name Alinate Naphu Misomali, is a Malawian-born Ghanaian designer. Naphu defied her parents and dropped out of college in her native Malawi to travel to Ghana to study at the Joyce Ababio School of Fashion with an aim of becoming a designer.
Her story is one of sheer determination spurred on by the desire to excel. She speaks of the crave from childhood to enter the fashion business which was only quenched when she arrived in Ghana to study fashion.
