The Jubilee Park in Ho is going to be busy tonight as some of Ghana’s finest in the music industry take turns to jam with their fans at the Vodafone Ghana Music Awards (VGMA) Nominees Jam.
They are Bisa Kdei, SP Sarpong, Patience Nyarko, Wisa, Atom, Jupitar, Kwaw Kese, Edem and EL.
Being the first time in the Volta regional capital, organisers of the jam, Charterhouse, have disclosed that measures have been put in place to give patrons the best of entertainment on the night.
Speaking with the DailyGraphic last Tuesday, the Public Relations Officer of Charterhouse and a member of the 2016 VGMA Selection Committee, Mr George Quaye, said his outfit was ready to give the people of Ho and its environs the time of their lives tonight.
“It was an amazing event at Cape Coast last year. The support was massive and I believe that being the first time in Ho, the people there will do same to make this year’s Nominations Jam a big success,” he stated.
In addition to the well-known artistes treating patrons to good music, there will also be performances by nominees of the Unsung Artiste category.
According to Mr Quaye, night interesting highlight on the day, would be a “battle” between gospel artistes, SP Kofi Sarpong and Patience Nyarko. They are both vying for the Gospel Artiste and Gospel Song of the Year awards.
The main VGMA event comes off on May 7 at the Accra International Conference Centre(AICC).
In all, 28 categories covering Highlife, Hiphop, Reggae, Dancehall, Gospel, Afro Pop, Song Writer, Music Producer and other special honours will be given out to deserving artistes for their works in the year under review.
