Tamale Rocks to ‘Invasion’

Dance hall musician, Shatta Wale, and two artistes from Ghana as well as two others from Nigeria last Saturday treated music fans to exciting performances at the Tamale Sports Stadium as part of the first City Invasion Tour organised by NMJ Ghana, an entertainment events firm.

J Martins and Selebobo  from Nigeria and Tiffany and Bisa Kdei  from Ghana were all on top of their game but largely it was Shatta Wale who drove the concert to its climax.

Undoubtedly, each of the artistes on the bill must have been surprised that they had fans in Tamale as patrons sang along with the artistes and aknowledged them with loud cheers.

When it was Shatta Wale’s turn, the cheers were deafening and this moved the dancehall singer to promise the fans a return to Tamale soon for another show.

A side attraction of the night was an  Azonto and Alkayda dance demonstration to which patrons responded very well dancing to the beat.

Earlier, Tamale-based artistes  Omar Janda and Kawal Stone treated patrons to songs from their repertoire but  until the five artistes billed for the night mounted the stage to perform, patrons were rather  lukewarm.

The Events Manager of NMJ Ghana, Akosua Agyemang said the event was the first of its kind to be organised in Tamale.

According to her, the City Invasion concert was a new concept  to bring quality entertainment to people outside Accra.

“Most shows are based in Accra which in my opinion deprives most regions some level of quality entertainment”, she said.

She indicated that NMJ Ghana through the city invasion concept will organise events throughout the various regions quarterly.
