Jollof competition to climax Eat Ghana festival

The Eat Ghana Festival is scheduled to come off at the Legon Botanical Garden on  August 26, 2017.

The festival is a healthy competition in cooking among Ghanaian, Nigerian and Gambian contestants in support of the “See Ghana, Eat Ghana, Wear Ghana, Feel Ghana” campaign being organised by the Ghana Tourism Authority (GTA) under the auspices of the Ministry of Tourism, Creative Arts and Culture.

Activities

In a statement issued and signed by the acting Public Relations Manager of the GTA, Ms Felicia Aniagyei, activities such as the CEO’s Jollof challenge, the chef and regional competition would be held.

“Representatives from each region of Ghana will prepare jollof rice with ingredients peculiar to their region. Besides the jollof competition, other local dishes such as banku and tilapia, waakye, fried yam and pork, fufu and soup, ampesi and palava sauce, kokonte and soup as well as local alcoholic beverages will be on sale by food vendors,” the statement said.

Side attractions

Ms Aniagyei stated that there would be live band music, bouncy castle and other indoor and fun games to spice up the event.
A fitness walk on the Aburi Hills will herald the festival. After the exercise, the walkers will be bussed to the Legon Botanical Gardens to join the festival.
