Virtual 3Music Awards tonight

The third edition of the 3Music Awards, which is going virtual because of the coronavirus pandemic, which has led to a ban on public gatherings, would come off tonight at the Fantasy Dome inside the Trade Fair Centre, Accra.

In keeping with President Akufo-Addo’s directive, there will be 25 people or less at the Fantasy Dome and these will include the media, musicians performing on the night and the organisers of the event.

The event, which will see over 20 awards being announced on the night, will be broadcast live on Joy Prime, Facebook and all 3 Music Awards social media pages.

Best of Production

In an interview with Daily Graphic, Public Relations Officer of the 3Music Awards, Obed Boafo, said they decided to go ahead with the event to bring some excitement to the public despite the prevailing conditions.

“We cannot wait for COVID-19 to be over so that we can do a proper show with a large audience. COVID-19 has limited everything and we hope and pray this pandemic is over soon so that everyone can live their normal lives,” he said.

He also disclosed that they were bent on putting up a great show despite the challenges they were going through.

“Despite the challenges the award scheme is going through, the organisers will give viewers the best of production.

Everything is in place for the awards scheme and we trust everything will go well. With a nice stage set up, lighting and constant rehearsals by the few artistes, we are sure of a successful show tonight,” he said.

COVID-19 effect

Talking about how the ban on public gathering has affected this year’s event, Obed Boafo said they would lose money from ticket sales and miss the presence of the public who would have come in their numbers to see their favourite musicians win on the night.
