Dreadlocks/Natural Hair Festival to open in Accra
The first Dreadlocks and Natural Hair Festival will on Saturday, September 9, take place at the Mikesh Salon Park, which is located in Adabraka, a suburb of Accra.

Activities lined up at the festival which is being organised by Mikesh Crown productions include free dreadlocks and natural hairdo, exhibition of photos of different dreadlocks and natural hair and as well as catwalk by models with dreadlocks and natural hair.
Others include awards for people who have worn dreadlocks or natural hair for over five years, traditional music and dance performances, eating competition, taekwondo/ boxing bouts, salsa dance and a concert by dreadlocked musicians.
The festival, which is being directed by Michael Ayikwei Afutu, CEO of Mikesh Crown Salon, will also organise a discussion of the benefits of sticking to dreadlocks and natural hair.
The salon also produces and offers a wide range of natural, herbal and organic hair products.
Opened in 1990, the salon, which provides exquisite hair care solutions to its numerous clients has branches in Benin and Uganda.
It has over the years, been advising and encouraging Ghanaians and other African nationals to keep their natural hair and avoid the use of chemicals.
Mikesh Crown Salon, which also has branches in Kumasi, Tamale, Ho, Aflao, Sunyani and Cape Coast among others, has also been organising various workshops and seminars on the positive effects of keeping one’s hair natural.
