He has not been active on the music scene for some time now but highlife artiste, Daasebre Gyamena, will on Friday night, July 14, be in action at the Piano Bar located at Greda Estates roundabout.
According to Mr Solomon Okai, proprietor of Piano Bar and organisers of the event said, the show will treat lovers of highlife music and fans of Daasebre to some of his popular highlife pieces which ruled the airwaves in the late 90s and early 2000.
“We settled on Daasebre because his kind of music projects the African and traditional ideals of the bar”.
“It will be a night filled with live band music. It is our own way of promoting and preserving Ghanaian music. Daasebre is no stranger to live music and we are very hopeful he will deliver well on the night”, he said.
He added that even though Daasebre performed at the Ghana Music Awards in April this year, he was particularly delighted that his outfit is hosting Daasebre just “for his true and faithful fans”, Mr Okai said in a chat with Showbiz last Tuesday.
As one of the talented highlife artistes in the country, Daasebre’s smooth and silky voice has won him the admiration of many lovers of highlife music.
He first shot onto the music scene with his debut song, Kokooko, which featured Lord Kenya in the 90s. At that time, hiplife was gaining popularity in the country but highlife artistes like Daasebre ignited the hope of the survival of highlife music back then.
Some of his popular songs are Obaa Ben, Ahoofe, Still I love You, A Friend in Need, Stole My Heart and Wo Da Enda.
