Creatives in Afrikiko art show

Afrikiko pub in Accra will come alive today with an art show dubbed “The Creatives” which will showcase artworks including sculpture, portraits and oil paintings.

Some of the artists who will be showcasing their works are Delali Tsegah, Vicky Dua Sakyi , Kwesi Hanson and Emmanuel Ababio.

The show will showcase paintings and sculptures telling different stories from different angles, stories of Ghanaians that will be told in the people’s own way, therefore bringing out the creativity in the participants.

Talking to the Daily Graphic, Nunana Awoonor, an entrepreneur , a model  and Director of NVA marketing and promotions , organisers of the art show expressed her excitement about the show taking place  and encouraged people to start seeing paintings and drawings as a means of entertainment.

“Most of the times, attention is given to music, movies, fashion but we forget that art is also a means of entertainment and that is why, my team and I came up with this art show.

“We believe that Ghana has more to offer when it comes to art and we trust that when the right recognition is given to it, Ghana would be able to rub shoulders with the world in that regard,” she said.

“The event is just to give artists the chance to showcase their creativity and that is where I culled my theme from, participants will come and get creative with their works with “The Creatives.” We are celebrating the talents in art,” she added.

The show that has Visat 1, and Live Fm as media partners will also give artists the exposure to sell their works and also reach a variety of arts enthusiasts both youthful and mature patrons.

The surprise of the day is that, patrons of the free show will have their portraits drawn and given to them at  the venue by the participants. Aside the display of artworks, there will be great food and live music.
