Board for Nkrumah Genius Awards inaugurated
The Board of Governors of the Osagyefo Kwame Nkrumah African Genius Award was inaugurated at a ceremony in Accra last Tuesday, June 24.

Under the patronage of Nana Kobina Nketsia V, Omanhen of Essikado, the board is chaired by Mr Kojo Yankah, Chancellor of African University College of Communication, with Mr Kwaw Ansah, CEO of TV Africa, as the assistant chairman.
September 20, the eve of the birthday of Osagyefo Dr Kwame Nkrumah, has been set aside as the night to honour the first batch of recipients for the prestigious Osagyefo Kwame Nkrumah Genius Awards.
Mr Enimil Ashon, Executive Director of the Centre for Community and Culture, the outfit that birthed the award concept, said the Kwame Nkrumah Awards would be used to promote domestic tourism.
By means of a raffle draw, patrons of the Awards Night will win prizes. Lucky winners will be sponsored on trips to places of historic, scenic and cultural significance in Ghana.
Other members of the board are Dr Mrs Ellen Hagan, CEO of L’Ainee Services; Mr Alhassan Andani, Managing Director, Stanbic Bank,; Major Don Chebe (Retd), Director-General of Ghana Broadcasting Corporation; Mr Kwame Acheampong Kyei , Chairman of the GLICO Group; Dr Joseph Ampofo, Director of the Water Research Institute, representing the scientific community and a representative of the Association of Ghana Industries (AGI).
The rest are: Mr David Dontoh, TV and Cultural Personality; Mr. Daniel Asiedu, Managing Director of Zenith Bank; Professor Nii Yartey, Professor of Dance, University of Ghana; Nanahemaa Adwoa Awindor, TV Personality and President of the Continental Executive Board of the African Queens and Women Cultural Leaders Network and Professor Kofi Asare Opoku, Emeritus Professor now Dean of African Studies, AUCC.
In his acceptance speech on behalf of the board, Mr Yankah pledged they would work to ensure that the scheme was not limited to Ghana alone but ultimately cover the entire African continent.
